John started his dance journey in 2010 while deployed overseas to Afghanistan, learning salsa in a small recreation tent while serving in the United States Army. Since then he as done social dancing and competitive dancing in both the military and with the Ohio State University Dancesport team. After receiving an honorable discharge in 2015 from active duty, he completed his Communications degree at The Ohio State University while also competing with the OSU collegiate Dancesport team. John has been teaching dance since 2014 and continues to serve in the Ohio Army National Guard. John has a myriad of other hobbies as he has done amateur bodybuilding shows, powerlifting meets as well as international travel.
