Swing is a partner dance dating back to the 1920’s. West Coast Swing is a slotted dance derived from Lindy Hop. The follower travels back and forth along a shoulder-width rectangle, called the slot, with respect to the leader. The leader is more stationary but will move in and out of the slot depending on the pattern led. WCS is characterised by an elastic look that results from its extension-compression technique of partner connection.
